About Department:
The Anthropology department was established in Regional College permanently in the year 1997 providing the programme duration of three years with about undergraduate students. Our Anthropology department is an interdisciplinary academic unit, typically focuses on the study of humans, their ancestors and related primates, exploring their biological, archaeological, linguistic and cultural aspects. Some common functions and activities of our anthropology department:
1. Teaching and Education: Offering undergraduate courses in various subfields of anthropology , including cultural anthropology, physical anthropology and archaeology anthropology.
2. Research: conducting fieldwork, laboratory research and theoretical studies to advance knowledge in areas such as human evolution, cultural practices, social structures and language development.
3.Fieldwork Opportunities: Providing students with hands-on experience through field schools, archaeological digs and ethnographcic research projects.
4. Laboratories and Collections: Maintaining facilities for biological anthropology, archaeology and other specialised research, including collections of artefacts, fossils and other relevant materials.
5. Public Outreach and Education: Engaging with the community through public lectures, workshops, exhibitions and collaborative projects with local and indigenous communities.
6. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Working with other departments such as history, sociology, biology and linguistics to offer a broader perspective on human studies.
