Physics Department

About:

Established in the year 1991, Department of Physics, Regional College undergoes teaching activities for the 3-year as well as 4-year undergraduate programme (Bachelor of Science Physics) for General/Honours Courses. The department is run by faculties with diverse academic backgrounds and specializations in solid state physics, theoretical physics, advance solid-state physics, astrophysics, electronics, semiconductor materials and devices characterization to name a few.
The physics lab is equipped with modern day facilities to help ease imparting physics knowledge to the students. The lab is equipped with computer system, logic gates, power supply, p-n junction diodes, Zener diodes, transistor characteristics apparatus, Young’s Modulus apparatus, spectrometer, travelling microscope, etc.
Research is given great emphasis and faculties have publications and undertaken minor research project, etc. Along with the teaching and research activities, the faculties and students of the department are also actively engaged in other activities of the college such as holding various positions as teachers’ representative for the college, research committee member, R&D Cell co-ordinator, election committee member and rescreening committee member of the college. Mention can also be made of the National Science Day observation by the department every year to inculcate the scientific temperament among students in particular. Other workshops, seminars, etc. are also participated both by the faculties and students to adapt to the ever-evolving nature of the discipline.
